From Frustration to Freedom: Why I'm Finally Giving Up on Growing on Instagram
From now on, I'm stepping away from the crazy rat race of trying to grow my following on Instagram. It's become such an unnecessary source of stress, and, honestly, I’ve had enough. You might have noticed that my blog posts have been dwindling. That's because I've been spending an inordinate amount of time figuring out what to post on Instagram. What will attract more followers? What do they want to see from me? And the truth is, I don’t really know. But I've reached a point where I don't care anymore.
When I first launched Kerin's Korner in 2017, my goal was never to amass a huge following, especially not on Instagram. I wasn't even an Instagram user back then. I simply switched my personal account to a business one to promote my blog content. However, as my followers began to grow, so did the pressure to create Instagram-exclusive content. I remember hitting the 500 followers mark and feeling so thrilled. They were genuine followers, real people who truly cared about what I had to say.
Now, my follower count hovers around 1800, but it dips a little more each day. I question the authenticity of most of them. I reckon about 500 of them are genuinely interested in my content. I toyed with the idea of starting anew with a fresh Instagram account to better engage and grow my audience. I even did some research on how to go about it. But, after much contemplation, I realized that's not the real problem. The issue lies in my reluctance to create content purely for Instagram growth.

Leveling Up: New Healthy Habits I'm Embracing This Year - Join Me!
Hello World!
I'm so excited to share with you some of the new healthy habits I'm incorporating into my life this year, and I invite you to join me on this journey of growth and self-improvement. In this post, I'll be covering a range of topics, from prioritizing self-care and incorporating physical activity, to mindful eating, cultivating a positive mindset, getting enough sleep, setting realistic goals, and more. So let's dive in and explore these new habits together, shall we?
Introduction
Leveling up—in essence, it means going a step above your current state. It's about seeking growth, embracing change, and striving to become a better version of oneself. This concept is not merely confined to video games or professional progression. It applies to our personal lives too, especially when it comes to our health and well-being. Healthy habits play a crucial role in our overall wellness. What we eat, how much we sleep, our physical activity levels, our mindset—each of these factors contributes to our health in significant ways. While we might not see immediate effects, consistent healthy habits help us level up our lives in the long run. Here are some healthy habits, I'll be incorporating this year.

Becoming the Best Version of Myself: How 2023 Transformed Me into a Healthier and Wealthier Individual
Hello World!
Can you believe it's already 2024? As I sit here reflecting on the past year, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and accomplishment. You see, 2023 was the year that transformed me into a healthier and wealthier individual, and I couldn't be more proud of the progress I've made. The concept of "becoming the best version of oneself" is often tossed around, but it wasn't until 2023 that I truly understood its power. Today, I want to take you on a journey through my personal transformation and share with you how I became the best version of myself. From prioritizing physical health to nurturing mental well-being, and from achieving financial growth to reflecting on personal growth, this blog post will cover it all. So grab a cozy blanket, a warm cup of tea, and let's dive in!
Introduction

We've all heard the phrase "be the best version of yourself." It's something of a mantra in self-help circles, but it can often feel like a vague and nebulous concept. It wasn't until last year that I grasped the true meaning of this mantra and took it to heart. I decided to mold myself into the best I could be – physically, mentally, and financially.
My life before 2023 was comfortable, but it lacked direction and fulfillment. I was drifting along, living life on autopilot. I was physically unfit, mentally tired, and financially unstable. The dissatisfaction kept gnawing at me until one day, it dawned on me - I deserved better, and I was the only one who could make it happen. I decided to hit the reset button in 2023.
The year 2023 was a revelation! Through the course of the year, I made conscious, deliberate choices which had a significant impact on my life. From choosing to eat healthier, incorporating physical activities into my daily routine, prioritizing mental health – I realized that becoming the best version of oneself is an inside job.

Tuesdays with Kerin: Gardening, Basketball & The O.C.?
Hello World,
I'm back with another Tuesday with Kerin. Did you miss me?
It's been a while since I've done one of these, and honestly I don't have that much to update you on. Last we spoke, I had a thriving herb garden, and today I can report that everything is dead - well not everything. I replanted my cilantro, so it just recently sprouted, but everything else is dead or dying. Even my sage, which was doing so well. I have no explanation for it. I continued doing all the same things, but they're just not surviving, but hey what are you gonna do? But I'm not giving up. It's almost Spring, which will a great time for reviving my garden. The last frost of Spring in Houston is February 17th, if you were wondering. That's also Ash Wednesday and my brothers' birthday. So I'll going to buy some more seeds and my raised garden this week or next week, and then I'll start these seeds outside, so I don't have worry about transitioning them, and since it won't be cold anymore, they should be fine. But I will keep you updated.
But let's see what else? I've been working, working, and um... yeah working. So all very exciting. But really I'm trying to think, but I don't think I've done much of anything in the last 2 weeks. I feel like I've just sitting in on the couch on my laptop (I work from the couch now) watching TV. Getting dressed has become a event for me.Tuesday, January 19, 2021
Growing from Seeds: Beginner Herb Garden Tips
Hello World!
So garden update - last week I was going on and on about how I excited I was for my garden, and how great it has been. Well, this week things have taken a turn. My cilantro is not thriving as it once was, but it appears to recuperating now. Here are some tips and things I have learned in my herb garden journey:

Tuesdays with Kerin: Christamas 2020
Hello World!
Welcome to Kerin's Korner 2021. If you haven't already, please go check out my post for my 2021 intentions for Kerin's Korner. My overall goal is to be more intentional this year. I don't have high hopes for 2021 as a whole - I'm thinking 2022 will be the year, but for me personally I can be better in 2021. But 2021 just needs to be than 2020 - so just not bad.
So I'm back at work this week full time - working from home still, but I have actual work to do again. At the end of the year work slowed down, and I was on vacation all of Christmas week, but being back at work just makes me miss winter break at school. We would be out from like the 2nd week in December until after MLK Day. That's just a month of doing nothing. I mean I like not being in school, but full time adulting is hard. But I did have a good little vacation for Christmas, and had an enjoyable Christmas with my family. I recently got an indoor grill, and I used it to make jerk chicken. It turned out pretty good, but I'm not sure anyone else enjoyed it. I also made yams, which was apparently pretty good, but I don't eat yams, so yeah...
But what did I get for Christmas? Why, thank you for asking. I got not 1 but 2 super soft and cozy throw blankets, because I'm always cold. I have yellow one and a gray one. Fashion wise, I got two essential items for any classic wardrobe. I got a Winnie the Pooh Onsie and a Christmas Llama jumpsuit, which I wore on Christmas, looking baller. Anyways, I also got a trashcan for my car because apparently I'm a slob, some clay face masks, a waterless razor, a giant scrunchie which I basically live in now, some chocolates, a Physician's Formula glow face palette, the Revlon x WW84 eyeshadow palette, Amazon echo buds, the Mr. Robot Complete Series Blu-ray box set and the Mr. Robot Red Wheelbarrow companion novel, which if you are a fan of Mr. Robot, I would highly recommend.

Tuesdays with Kerin: Movies???
Hello World!
So I think when last we spoke, I was anxiously awaiting the Clippers vs. Nuggets Game 7 of the Western Semi-finals, and it did not disappoint. Talk about a comeback. They tryna make me a Nuggets fan! But now they have gone on and earned the right to play Lebron and his Lakers. And so far, no good. They almost had it last game, but then there was Antony Davis so... But the Celtics-Heat series, is just as great as I thought it would be. I can't even decide who to go for. I just like both of those team so much. I like how hard they play and how they play as team. They're just both really fun to watch.
But that's enough about the NBA #ballislife. Well... hmmm... I don't really have anything else to talk about. I mean last week all I did was work in the call center, which was so awfully terrible. Other than that, I finally did a little more unpacking, so my room in coming together nicely. I still need just few more things for my room and bathroom, and then I think it'll be done, and I can show it on here!

Tuesdays with Kerin: Yeah I Know
Hello World!
Yeah I know, I only posted once last week...
Yeah I know, I said I would get back to my regularly scheduled posts...
Yeah I know, I was supposed to write my review of New Mutants or Tenet
Yeah I know, I lied.
But hey, I'm back now. It's not that I didn't want to post last week or didn't think about it. I just didn't do it. But let's not dwell on the past. Today is a new day and a new week and new chance to do things right. I already did my first makeup post since May 2018 yesterday, which if you haven't check out you should, so this week is already turning out better than last.

Tuesdays With Kerin: I've moved!!!
Hello World!
I bet you didn't think you'd be hearing from me again! I apologize for taking last week off, but I was working in the call center, and then I got sick, so yeah. Anyway, I'm working from home this week, so I can get back to my regularly scheduled postings.
So what have I been up to these past 2 weeks? Well thank you for asking. My time was mostly consumed with my sister and I looking for a new place to stay, and we found it! And omg did we get a steal! The day after we reserved our apartment, the price went up by $600! So yeah, I'm glad we locked it in when we did. Then last week was just packing up and then I got sick which wasn't great, but I think I was just exhausted and really needed to rest, but I'm feeling much better now.

Happy Belated Kobe Day...Happy Pre-Hump day... hmmm... neither one of those really work, but today is Tuesday, August 25,2020, and I am back, so Happy Tuesday. Happy Welcome Back Tuesday! I don't know what I'm saying. It's been so long since I've done this. In fact it's been exactly 2 years. That's right, my last post was 2 years ago today. That's crazy.

Summer's Over

Happy Independence Day!!!
Okay first off, let's just address the elephant in the room.
I have been away for a month. But let's take a look at what I said in my last post.

Where the heck have I been?
Omg! I got online today and realized I haven't posted in 3 weeks! I don't know what happened. I didn't realize it had been so long. I'm so sorry. I guess I just got busy and compounded with my perpetual laziness, I just lost track of time. But alas I have found my way, and I indeed have much to inform on you on. So sit back, relax, and get ready for a slightly longer than usual post today.
Okay, when I last left you, I was neck-deep in my Supernatural obsession and deeply invested in the NBA Playoffs. So none of that has really changed, except I have taken a break from Supernatural because I only have 2 more seasons left and I'm not ready for it to be over. So I've been stemming the tide by re-watching season 13 episodes and watching a tone of Supernatural convention panels. Yeah, it's really bad, but we all have our vices. But for real for real, I've watched so many convention panels, that I'm strongly considering going to the Supernatural convention in Vegas this December, and I hate Vegas, so that's saying a lot. But we'll see. Who knows what I'll be obsessed with come December?
In completely unrelated news, in my time away, I finally got my driver's license. Yay! I mean technically I still have to go to the DPS to get my actual license, but I already passed the tests and everything. So now I can finally be the free independent woman, I like to think I am.
Okay, so I never have a update without mentioning movies, so what's new on the movie front? So the last to advance screenings I tried to go to were busts. The Deadpool 2 was awful because we sat outside in the sun for hours only for them come out and say we only have 47 seats. Boy bye! So I ended having to use my own hard earned money to see a movie I didn't really want to see. And by hard earned money I, of course, mean my movie pass. But anyway, I did see it so if you want a review, let me know. Then the other screening I tried to go to was Mamma Mia 2. I was going to take my mother on Mother's Day, but it turned out, they were actually just showing Mamma Mia, the original. And honestly that's not a good enough movie to see twice, let alone three times, so we passed. Instead we had breakfast at this wonderful crepe place, called Sweet Paris. I think they have franchises all over, but if you're in Houston, you should check it out, it's in Rice Village. And then other movies... I saw Solo this weekend when I was #downtownliving because of Comicpalooza, which we will get into soon. I saw Book Club yesterday. #MovieTuesday And let me tell you, that movie is a riot. And I'm going to try to see an advance screening of Adrift tonight, but who knows how that will turn out. But if I don't see it tonight, I'll just watch it tomorrow.
Now, I think the most exciting thing that happened this month, besides getting my license was going to Comicpalooza! It was my first convention and it was pretty exciting! I went with my brother, and we stayed the cutest loft in Downtown Houston, right by Minute Maid Park, and we would walk to the George R. Brown every day, and it was a lot of fun!
We checked into our AirBnb on Thursday night, and then we had dinner at my new favorite restaurant Osso+ Kristalla. And then convention started on Friday. So Friday was all about getting the lay of the land. We checked out some film shorts and some vendors. We went to a discussion about the history of American Comics, which was surprisingly pretty interesting. Then we went to the Charlie Cox Q&A, which I think was favorite panel from the whole weekend. And later, we went to the Orlando Jones Q&A, which was downright hilarious. It was like a stand-up routine. He was so much fun! And then later we went to see Solo.
But Saturday was the big day. The Tom Holland Q&A was happening I was not going to miss it. We went to a strange sword fighting class in the morning. And then we watched this really bad Black Lightning film. And then I went and got in line for Tom, while my brother went to the Mark Waid Q&A. And I'm glad I did, because it was so packed. I got in line 2 and half hours before the panel, and there were already like 50 people in front of me. And by the time, my brother got out of his panel, there were like 1000 people in the waiting room. It crazy. And it really wasn't worth it. Tom was great. He was sweet and funny, but the panel was just meh! The moderator asked a lot questions, the Tom had already answered in other interviews, and then Tom invited this obnoxious kid on the stage, and he just tried to take over the panel. And I'm like dude, this is not about you. Later, we went to the Ray Park Q&A, and that was pretty fun.
Sunday was the last day, and goal was to go shopping in the vendor area to get souvenirs. But since, nothing was really happening everyone was shopping too, so it was really packed. My brother got some Funko Pops to start an actual collection and I got a random grab bag of comics. I was going to get a shirt, but I didn't like any of them. Then we also went to the Ruth E. Carter Q&A. She's the costume designer for Black Panther, and other films. And it was really interesting and informative. Then we left, and went back to the loft, and watched Spider-Man: Homecoming until it was time to return to our regularly scheduled lives. But overall, I had a great time, and I think I'll go back. I think I'm a convention kind of girl!
Now looking toward the future, I'm going to be leaving on Saturday, to go to DC to work this summer. So I don't know how often I will post this summer, but I'm going to try, and if I don't have the time, I will let you guys know. I won't just disappear all summer.
Anyway, I think that's it. Sorry not sorry for the long post!
If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let me know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

Tuesdays with Kerin: This is It!
Believe it or not, I did not go to the movies last week. I know. Shocker. But I am supposed to see Deadpool 2 and Mama Mia 2 this week, so I guess I'm making up for it.
If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let me know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

Tuesdays With Kerin: Wednesday May 2nd
So this is the part where I would usually say something about not posting last week or the fact that today is Wednesday and not Tuesday, but you already know the drill, so I think I'll just skip all that and get right to it. Okay, then.
This is my last week of school! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! Then I have finals next week, and I'm done with school!
Well, at least until August.
I haven't really gotten up to anything since the last time I posted. At least nothing memorable. I should really stick to my weekly posting, because my memory is terrible. Or maybe I should just start writing things down. I digress.
Anyway, I recently really gotten into Supernatural. I started the show a while ago and would watch it occasionally, but I didn't want to make the commitment to watch it because it has so many seasons. But I finally took the plunge, and now I'm on Season 5 and 13. Yes, I skipped to the current season, while simultaneously watching previous season. So what?
In other exciting news, I got my passes for Comicpalooza this week! This is my first convention, so I'm pretty excited, even though I heard it's been pretty lame in the past. But Tom Holland's going to be there! So win!
On that note, I did see Avengers: Infinity War. I went to the opening night fan event, and that was a god-awful experience. Fans are literally the most annoying people to watch movies with. Anyway, I've seen the movie twice now, and will have a review for you soon!
I hope you guys have been watching the NBA playoffs because I have. And Steph's back! Get pumped!
Anyway, my picks didn't pan out, so here my new picks for this round.
- The West: Rockets, Warriors
- The East: 76ers, Cavaliers
Alas, that tis all!

Tuesdays with Kerin: Another Wednesday Update
So what's been happening? What's up? I always tell you guys what's going on with me, but never ask about you. How rude! So let me know in the comments.
But back to me... let's see what did I do last week...
I didn't end up going to the Rampage early screening, however I did see it on Sunday, so a review could be coming soon!
However, I did go to the advance screening of I Feel Pretty, and might be going to another tonight, but that is not indicative of how I feel about this movie.
Let me know which movie I should review!
With my newly found free time last week, I started going to the gym, which is gross! I hate going to the gym. There is literally nothing about it I like. But I need to workout, and I like being active. But I'm more of sport or activity type of person. Like sign me up for hip-hop cardio any day!
NBA playoffs stated this weekend!!! And the Warriors are back! They just flipped the switch and are playing like champions again. All the games I've watched have been mostly good, even though there have been some blowouts. But my first round picks are:
- The West: Rockets, Warriors, Thunder, Pelicans
- The East: Wizards, Celtics, Heat, Cavaliers
Anyway, there's your quick little update about what I've been up to this past week!

Tuesdays With Kerin: Free Time
Now I have time go to advance screenings. I've had passes to so many screenings in the past, that I couldn't make because of work, but now I free to enjoy myself.
Speaking of advance screenings, I have two I plan on going to this week - Rampage and I Feel Pretty. Which is perfect, because those are two movies, I don't really want to pay to see per se. Not that I really pay for movies, because you know, MoviePass.
Also, thanks to everyone you participated in my giveaway. I announced the winners on twitter on Saturday, so go check that out! And I think that's all folks!
