So, here I am, back with another Tuesday update—and on an actual Tuesday, no less! I’ve been a bit unsure about posting this week since I didn’t receive any feedback on the potential switch to a biweekly schedule. Additionally, I’m curious about what you all think regarding bringing the newsletter back. I’m not entirely sure how most of you are keeping up with my blog posts, so I’d love to hear how you’d prefer to be informed about new content. Your thoughts would be super helpful!
Last week, I wrapped up week 2 of my half-marathon training, and I must say, it went surprisingly well despite the relentless heat. Honestly, it seems like no matter what hour I choose to run, it’s always sweltering—seriously, why is it 90 degrees at 6 in the morning? Regardless, I powered through! While I didn’t hit any mileage PRs just yet, my long run last week clocked in at 4.5 miles. This week, I'm gearing up to tackle 4.8 miles, which will be my longest run to date. Here's to pushing those limits!
Speaking of running, I recently got new running shoes! On Sunday, my dad took me to Fleet Feet to get fitted, and it turned out to be quite the revelation. Not only did they help me find the right type of shoe for my foot type, but they also pointed out that I’d been wearing the wrong size all along—I had to go up a whole size! Crazy, right? Anyway, I ended up with the Asics Gel-Nimbus 26. I haven’t run in them yet, but I’m super excited to give them a try. It’s a bit sad to hang up my Hokas, but I’m really looking forward to seeing the difference these new kicks will make!
So, during one of my workouts last week, I finally finished It Ends Us, and let me tell you, it felt amazing to complete a book after such a long time! I was so pumped that I immediately went to see the movie adaptation. On Thursday night, my mother, sister, and I ended up having an impromptu girls' night - going to see the film together. They hadn't read the book, but they really enjoyed the movie! If you want to dive deeper into my thoughts, you can read my full review over on
Kerin's Kritiques.
This past weekend was a delightful mix of family time and self-care. On Friday, we ventured out to a new restaurant for Houston Restaurants Weeks, and this time the whole family joined in on the fun! We dined at Dak & Bop, savoring some mouth-watering Korean Fried Chicken, and let me tell you, it was definitely a hit – I’d absolutely return.
As the Summer Olympics came to a close, I soaked in all the thrilling action on Saturday. Saturday was a productive day, too, as I took some time to do my hair. I usually lean towards protective styles, so I was surprised I went so long without one this year! I decided to whip up some goddess twists, and let me tell you, learning to style my hair has been a total game changer.
After my lovely outing with my dad on Sunday, I treated myself to a little solo date at the movies, where I checked out Borderlands. While I wouldn’t call it a great film (definitely check out the review on
Kerins Kritiques), I still had a blast. All in all, it was a good weekend filled with tasty food and moments of relaxation!
Until next time!
Au Revoir

Weekly Obsession: Still the Summer Olympics! But now that it's over, I'm at a bit of a loss on how to fill that void. Just kidding, I'll find something!
What I'm Reading: After wrapping up It Ends With Us, I dove right into the sequel, It Starts With Us. So far, I'm not as hooked. The dual point of view narration between Lily and Atlas isn't my favorite style, but I’m giving it a shot. Who knows, it might grow on me.
What I'm Watching: On the bright side, I haven't watched any more episodes of Those About to Die. Maybe I've finally broken my habit of finishing shows I don't enjoy. Instead, I’ve started rewatching Castlevania, which has been a blast. However, I still need to finish Shogun. Priorities, right?
