Tuesdays with Kerin: 9 Days In

Happy Tuesday!

So, here I am, 9 days deep into my 30-day wellness challenge, and I must say, things have been going well – pun totally intended! The physical health challenges were a piece of cake, and now we've transitioned to focusing on nutrition. Admittedly, I did have a little slip-up already. The goal yesterday was to incorporate a serving of fruits or vegetables with every meal. While I managed to have a hearty serving of cabbage during lunch yesterday, I fell short because I didn't eat breakfast and dinner. Nevertheless, it's all about progress, not perfection, right?

I got back into the swing of things with my training last week. Four runs, two killer training sessions for both upper and lower body, and even squeezed in a 30-minute mobility session. Ah, it felt so good to be consistent again! On the running front, I conquered my longest distance yet - a 7K, which is equal to just under 4.5 miles. Surprisingly, I completed it in nearly an hour, surpassing my own expectations. Who knew I had it in me? Just gotta triple that distance, and boom, I'll be ready for a half-marathon!

In other news, I'm contemplating breaking up with Hello Fresh. Don't get me wrong, I love the convenience, but let's face it, I'm not always faithful in cooking those meals, and they end up sadly going to waste. I mean, I enjoy them when I do whip them up, but is it really worth the dough? I've got enough recipes up my sleeve now to hit the store and grab the ingredients myself. Decisions, decisions. I'll probably stick around until I use up those credits and discounts though. Food and nutrition are my biggest struggles on this wellness journey, but I'm trying  to get better, so I'm always looking for an easy way to get my nutrients!

Switching gears to sports, the Rockets can officially bid farewell to the post-season. Bummer, but hey, the Warriors game was still a blast! Now I can fully throw my support behind them – not that I have high hopes for them going all the way. East? Celtics all the way. West? That's a tough one this year, so many powerhouses!

Aside from the Rockets game, my only other adventures out of the house was trips to the movies. Watched Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire again – still a thrill! And oh, I had a Spooky Saturday date with The First Omen, which was meant to be followed by a Mystery Movie Monday. But thanks to Reddit warning me what the movie was, I switched to an Early Access Screening of Civil War. Best decision ever – loved every minute! All in all, a fun-filled week at the movies. Can't wait for more adventures ahead!

Weekly Obsession: Alright, let's be real here - I may have developed a slight addiction to Threads. I seem to be dedicating an excessive amount of time to this app, but truth be told, it's incredibly enjoyable and interactive. Unlike the chaotic and often toxic environment of Twitter, Threads offers a refreshing experience. However, what truly captivates me within Threads is the vibrant running community. Their unwavering support and helpfulness have left me utterly obsessed.

What I'm Reading: So, I may have hit a bit of a reading slump this week. I keep telling myself I'll pick up The Idea of You again, especially with the movie release coming up, but let's just say it's been a struggle. Must. Push. Through.

What I'm Watching: Peaky Blinders is still holding my attention. Although I missed an episode of Shogun last week, the silver lining is that I now have the pleasure of indulging in two episodes this week! And of course, Sundays are reserved for Tracker, even if it's not exactly winning any awards in my book. Oh, and Ripley has me hooked - new binge-worthy show alert! And let's not forget my mini Timothée Chalamet film festival...Beautiful Boy was my go-to sleep movie, but then I finished it, so now I've moved on to Bones and All.

Au Revior,

~Kerin
