Throwback Playlist: August 2012

Hello World! So I've recently been reunited with my old iPod I had during high school, and I've been enjoying rediscovering some gems from the past. So I thought I share with you one of my old playlists from 5 years ago. It was uniquely titles " Jams August 2012." Enjoy!

I don't even know what to say for this song...

This song is very catchy, I am not ashamed

Ratchet, n*gga we act hood
But I'm getting money with these white folk

Omg! Remember Fun?

No I don't understand why this is on my playlist. I'm so disappointed in myself.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't a Rihanna fan then, but try listening to this and not dancing. Try it.

I can't get over the fact Wale and Gaga did a song together

The fact I still considered this a jam in 2012, just shows the Queen never goes out of style!

I'm sure this song had it's time but, yawn...

I miss the old Weezy but the drugs really got him *sigh*

P.S. Don't judge me....

Kerin's Top Ten: Foundations for Oily Skin

Hello World!
Hi my name is Kerin and I am a Foundation junkie.

No, but seriously I love foundation, and I think I've mentioned in a previous posts that I have oily-combination skin, so I'm always on the hunt for good foundation that will keep me shine-free throughout the day. I also should mention that I am a full-coverage queen, so most of the foundations on my list are full coverage. Without further ado, here's my top ten foundations of oily skin!

This foundation has a demi-matte finish, so it doesn't leave your face looking flat and it also as SPF!

I usually only gravitate to foundations with a matte finish, but this one is an exception. It has a natural flawless finish, and it's super lightweight with medium coverage, but does a great job of controlling oil. It also has an extensive shade range!

I love this foundation because it's moisturizing, long-lasting, and has a flawless finish!

 This foundation has a demi-matte finish with medium to full coverage and last 24hrs!

I like this foundation because it has medium to full coverage,  and it's lightweight and sweat resistant. It also has SPF!

The clays sucks up any excess oil, but it's not  drying. It's full coverage, long-lasting, and erases the look of pores!

This foundation very full coverage and long lasting. It also has a very extensive shade range. But my favorite thing about this foundation is that it's water-resistant!

This foundation has a demi-matte finish and gives medium to buildable coverage. It really blurs the look of your pores. And best of all it retails under $10 and comes in 40 shades!

I love this foundation because it's full coverage and super matte, but feels very lightweight!

AND FINALLY MY NUMBER ONE HOLY GRAIL...

This foundation is super full coverage! When you apply it, it doesn't budge and a little goes a long way. It lasts 24 hours and has a super matte finish, but it can feel a little heavy. Also it has an extensive shade range, coming in 30 shades!

Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette: What's the Tea?

Hello World! Here's my review of the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette.

When Tarte first launched this palette this summer, I instantly wanted to get my hands on it, but first I couldn't find it anywhere, and then when I finally did it I wasn't sure it was really worth the price. This palette retails for $46, which is on the pricier side, but comparable to other high-end brand palettes. I was so intrigued by the palette because it claimed to be the ultimate face palette with all the shades you could need to shape, contour, and highlight your eyes, nose, face, and even your brows. But I became hesitant when I saw the price because I didn't think I would be able to use any of the face shades, because I had yet to find a high-end brand that has a contour shade that's dark enough. So I was like, I'm not paying $46 for a 9 basic eyeshadows. But then I saw the swatches online, and I was like maybe it'd be dark enough, so I went ahead and bought it. And I am so glad I did! These shades are so pigmented and are actually darker than they appear in the pan.

I am a fan of Tarte's entire Amazonian Clay line, and I feel like this palette was the perfect addition. You can create so many looks with this palette, and it can work for a variety of different skin tones! This palette reminds me a lot of the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette except better (no shade 😏). Also I think the packaging is just really cute and sleek, and I love the giant mirror, which makes it perfect for travel! I would highly recommend this palette!

Buy it here and use code NG8C-2GBK-JTB9 for $10 off!

Au Revoir!

P.S.  If you would like a full tutorial using this palette let me know!

Spider-Man: Homecoming: Watch or Nah?

Hello World! A few weeks ago, I saw Spider-Man Homecoming on opening night for my Birthday (on a related note I also saw the Amazing Spiderman on opening night for my birthday a few years ago so...) And then I saw again the following week. But anyway here's my review of the film as a whole, and if I'd recommend you watch it or nah.

Film/ Television Show Information

Name: Spider-Man: Homecoming

Genre: Action, Adventure

Director : Jon Watts

Main Cast: : Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Jacob Bataillone

Ratings

1 = Trash

2 =Meh

3 = OK

4 = Solid

5 = Bomb

Acting/ Performance

X

Comments:
So like 90% of the cast are good actors. Some are even Academy Award winning actors. But that 10% is questionable...

Writing/Screenplay

X

Comments:
The complexity of movie adaptations is trying be original while staying true to the spirit of original story, and it's hard - especially for comics where there is so much source material. Now, I don't follow comic books, but I know losers who do (not saying that comic book followers are losers, it just so happens that the only people I know that follow comics are my loser brothers, and they're just losers who happen to follow comics). With all being said, I thought the story was really good and it keep a great balance between light-hearted fun and intensity throughout the film. I especially enjoyed the lack of the Spiderman origin story, because seeing Peter Parker get bit by a radioactive again is almost as un-entertaining as seeing Bruce Wayne's parents get killed in an alley again.

Cinematography

X

Comments:
Marvel knows a thing or two about creating visually engaging films, and this film was no different. What I particularly liked about this film is although most of it was filmed in Atlanta, as a viewer, I never felt like I was not in NYC.

Costume Design

X

Comments:
Dope Spidey suit, and Tom Holland wears some pretty awesomely Peter Parker-est t-shirts!

Editing/Special Effects

X

Comments:
Another area where Marvel knows what they're doing, but I like how this film used practical effects to make it  look more realistic instead of relying solely on CGI.

Sound/Music

X

Comments:
I had no real comments about the sound. I don't like it added or took away form scenes, but obviously scenes would be real without the soundtrack, so it was definitely necessary.

Overall Rating (average the rating numbers above)  - 4.5

Recommendation: Watch! 😀

I would recommend this movie to a variety of different people. If you're a fan of Spiderman, definitely go for it. You'll love it! If you like superhero movies, this is for you. MCU fans, check it out. If you like coming of age films, you'll enjoy it! If you like action adventure or action comedy, then you should definitely give it a go! This is just a fun cute film, that I think everyone will find some part of it to enjoy, so go on and watch it!

P.S. - So it's definitely a wig...
