Where the heck have I been?

Hello World!

Omg! I got online today and realized I haven't posted in 3 weeks! I don't know what happened. I didn't realize it had been so long. I'm so sorry. I guess I just got busy and compounded with my perpetual laziness,  I just lost track of time.  But alas I have found my way, and  I indeed have much to inform on you on. So sit back, relax, and get ready for a slightly longer than usual post today.

Okay, when I last left you, I was neck-deep in my Supernatural obsession and deeply invested in the NBA Playoffs. So none of that has really changed, except I have taken a break from Supernatural because I only have 2 more seasons left and I'm not ready for it to be over. So I've been stemming the tide by re-watching season 13 episodes and watching a tone of Supernatural convention panels. Yeah, it's really bad, but we all have our vices. But for real for real, I've watched so many convention panels, that I'm strongly considering going to the Supernatural convention in Vegas this December, and I hate Vegas, so that's saying a lot. But we'll see. Who knows what I'll be obsessed with come December?

Now Playoffs... I just want to say my predictions were 100% correct. I mean maybe not 100%, but my end results were right. I said Lebron was going to win, and he did that dang thing. And I said the Western Conference was gon be lit, and they did that dang thing. So, I was right. Anyway, Finals start tomorrow! We got the Dubs and the Cavs for the 4th straight year! Turn up! And you already know who I'm going for. DubNation all day!

In completely unrelated news, in my time away, I finally got my driver's license. Yay! I mean technically I still have to go to the DPS to get my actual license, but I already passed the tests and everything. So now I can finally be the free independent woman, I like to think I am.

Okay, so I never have a update without mentioning movies, so what's new on the movie front? So the last to advance screenings I tried to go to were busts. The Deadpool 2 was awful because we sat outside in the sun for hours only for them come out and say we only have 47 seats. Boy bye! So I ended having to use my own hard earned money to see a movie I didn't really want to see. And by hard earned money I, of course, mean my movie pass. But anyway, I did see it so if you want a review, let me know. Then the other screening I tried to go to was Mamma Mia 2. I was going to take my mother on Mother's Day, but it turned out, they were actually just showing Mamma Mia, the original. And honestly that's not a good enough movie to see twice, let alone three times, so we passed. Instead we had breakfast at this wonderful crepe place, called Sweet Paris. I think they have franchises all over, but if you're in Houston, you should check it out, it's in Rice Village. And then other movies... I saw Solo this weekend when I was #downtownliving because of Comicpalooza, which we will get into soon. I saw Book Club yesterday. #MovieTuesday And let me tell you, that movie is a riot. And I'm going to try to see an advance screening of Adrift tonight, but who knows how that will turn out. But if I don't see it tonight, I'll just watch it tomorrow.

Now,  I think the most exciting thing that happened this month, besides getting my license was going to Comicpalooza! It was my first convention and it was pretty exciting! I went with my brother, and we stayed the cutest loft in Downtown Houston, right by Minute Maid Park, and we would walk to the George R. Brown every day, and it was a lot of fun!

We checked into our AirBnb on Thursday night, and then we had dinner at my new favorite restaurant Osso+ Kristalla. And then convention started on Friday. So Friday was all about getting the lay of the land. We checked out some film shorts and some vendors. We went to a discussion about the history of American Comics, which was surprisingly pretty interesting. Then we went to the Charlie Cox Q&A, which I think was favorite panel from the whole weekend. And later, we went to the Orlando Jones Q&A, which was downright hilarious. It was like a stand-up routine. He was so much fun! And then later we went to see Solo.

But Saturday was the big day. The Tom Holland Q&A was happening I was not going to miss it. We went to a strange sword fighting class in the morning. And then we watched this really bad Black Lightning film. And then I went and got in line for Tom, while my brother went to the Mark Waid Q&A. And I'm glad I did, because it was so packed. I got in line 2 and half hours before the panel, and there were already like 50 people in front of me. And by the time, my brother got out of his panel, there were like 1000 people in the waiting room. It crazy. And it really wasn't worth it. Tom was great. He was sweet and funny, but the panel was just meh! The moderator asked a lot questions, the Tom had already answered in other interviews, and then Tom invited this obnoxious kid on the stage, and he just tried to take over the panel. And I'm like dude, this is not about you. Later, we went to the Ray Park Q&A, and that was pretty fun.

Sunday was the last day, and goal was to go shopping in the vendor area to get souvenirs. But since, nothing was really happening everyone was shopping too, so it was really packed. My brother got some Funko Pops to start an actual collection and I got a random grab bag of comics. I was going to get a shirt, but I didn't like any of them. Then we also went to the Ruth E. Carter Q&A. She's the costume designer for Black Panther, and other films. And it was really interesting and informative. Then we left, and went back to the loft, and watched Spider-Man: Homecoming until it was time to return to our regularly scheduled lives. But overall, I had a great time, and I think I'll go back. I think I'm a convention kind of girl!

Now looking toward the future, I'm going to be leaving on Saturday, to go to DC to work this summer. So I don't know how often I will post this summer, but I'm going to try, and if I don't have the time, I will let you guys know. I won't just disappear all summer.

Anyway, I think that's it. Sorry not sorry for the long post!

Tuesdays with Kerin: This is It!

Hello World!

This is it! I'm done! I did it! I had my last final today, and now I'm done with the year! YASSSSSS!!! This time couldn't have come any later, because I am so done with school. But alas now I get a reprieve.
Hmmm.. let's see what did I do last week...

Well my new found love of Supernatural has turned into full blown addiction. It is literally all I do. I sit down, eat ice, and play Solitaire while I watch Supernatural. I'm over halfway through season 7 now, and it's still good!

If I'm not watching Supernatural, then I'm watching the NBA Playoffs, except for the Rockets, because I'm not allowed to watch them. After careful experimentation, I found that whenever I watch the Rockets they lose. As much as I want to be apart of their success, I can't. I'm a bad luck charm, so I must be a fan from afar. But I can watch the Warriors all day! Thankfully, neither DubNation or RedNation, let me down, so we gone have a lit Western Conference Final. Ay! Get Excited! On the other hand, I am so disappointed in the 76ers, in particular Ben "Mr. 1 point" Simmons. But can we just take a moment to appreciate Lebronto, Ontario? Yeah, because Lebron owned the Raptors.  But regardless of whoever wins between the Celtics and the 76ers, the Eastern Conference Finals doesn't seem like it will be that exciting, and Lebron is going to win.

Believe it or not, I did not go to the movies last week. I know. Shocker. But I am supposed to see Deadpool 2 and Mama Mia 2 this week, so I guess I'm making up for it.

Instead of a flick, I saw a different kind of show. Saturday, I went the Houston Symphony with my mother. We saw Mozart's clarinet concerto and Brahms's A German Requiem.  We had seats in the orchestra, which I thought would be nice, because we would be close to the stage. But I didn't realized how close to the stage we'd be. We were only two rows back from the stage. The seats in front of us could literally touch the stage. So if I go again, I'll probably sit a few rows back. But the show was really nice. I really enjoyed the clarinet concerto, and A German Requiem started out fine, but after the 3rd movement I was ready to go. Overall, I really enjoyed the show. It reminded me of when I was in the band (btw I played the flute and I was a boss), and made me wish I had stuck with my music. But alas, I am no artist.

Yeah, I think that's everything. Sorry my life isn't that exciting. I'll try to do better.

Tuesdays With Kerin: Wednesday May 2nd

Hello World!

So this is the part where I would usually say something about not posting last week or the fact that today is Wednesday and not Tuesday, but you already know the drill, so I think I'll just skip all that and get right to it. Okay, then.

This is my last week of school! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! Then I have finals next week, and I'm done with school!
Well, at least until August.

I haven't really gotten up to anything since the last time I posted. At least nothing memorable. I should really stick to my weekly posting, because my memory is terrible. Or maybe I should just start writing things down. I digress.

Anyway, I recently really gotten into Supernatural. I started the show a while ago and would watch it occasionally, but I didn't want to make the commitment to watch it because it has so many seasons. But I finally took the plunge, and now I'm on Season 5 and 13. Yes, I skipped to the current season, while simultaneously watching previous season. So what?

In other exciting news, I got my passes for Comicpalooza this week! This is my first convention, so I'm pretty excited, even though I heard it's been pretty lame in the past. But Tom Holland's going to be there! So win!

On that note, I did see Avengers: Infinity War. I went to the opening night fan event, and that was a god-awful experience. Fans are literally the most annoying people to watch movies with. Anyway, I've seen the movie twice now, and will have a review for you soon!

I hope you guys have been watching the NBA playoffs because I have. And Steph's back! Get pumped!

Anyway, my picks didn't pan out, so here my new picks for this round.

  • The West: Rockets, Warriors
  • The East: 76ers, Cavaliers
But I'm really just waiting for the Rockets- Warriors series. It's gon be lit!

Alas, that tis all!

Tuesdays with Kerin: Another Wednesday Update

Hello World!

So yeah it's another Wednesday update, so maybe I should rename this series Tuesdays/Wednesdays with Kerin... nah! That's too much extra work!

So what's been happening? What's up? I always tell you guys what's going on with me, but never ask about you. How rude! So let me know in the comments.

Rampage PosterBut back to me... let's see what did I do last week...

I didn't end up going to the Rampage early screening, however I did see it on Sunday, so a review could be coming soon!

I Feel Pretty PosterHowever, I did go to the advance screening of I Feel Pretty, and might be going to another tonight, but that is not indicative of  how I feel about this movie.

Let me know which movie I should review!

With my newly found free time last week, I started going to the gym, which is gross! I hate going to the gym. There is literally nothing about it I like. But I need to workout, and I like being active. But I'm more of sport or activity type of person. Like sign me up for hip-hop cardio any day!

NBA playoffs stated this weekend!!! And the Warriors are back! They just flipped the switch and are playing like champions again. All the games I've watched have been mostly good, even though there have been some blowouts.  But my first round picks are:

  • The West: Rockets, Warriors, Thunder, Pelicans
  • The East:  Wizards, Celtics, Heat, Cavaliers
Really, I'm just hoping for some upsets!

Anyway, there's your quick little update about what I've been up to this past week!

If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let me know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

Tuesdays With Kerin: Free Time

Hello World!

Aye I'm back and  I'm better
I want you bad as ever...

Just kidding, I'm back, but I don't think I'm any better, and I certainly don't want you anymore than usual, but I don't know I guess I had a little Bryson Tiller in me today.

Anyway, so how did you guys like the spam of last week? That was four post in one day! Like that was a lot. And it wasn't easy. I love watching movies, and writing reviews, but they are not easy. Reviews take a lot of time and thought. And when I got to A Quiet Place, my brain was just like no, I'm done. So I don't plan on ever doing that again... so I guess I'll just have to stick to posting a on regular basis, so I'm not doing catch-up work.

So I only have to update you guys on a few days, since my last update was Friday, and really nothing happened this weekend. I didn't even go the to the movies this weekend (*gasp*). I know shocking, and there are finally new movies out I haven't seen yet. But no worries I will makeup for this week, now that I have more free time.

But how sway? Well, I quit my job yesterday. What? No, you didn't! Well , yes I did. I won't get into all the gritty details, but I didn't feel like the management and leadership valued my time and my efforts, so I walked out, and that's that. But now my afternoons, are completely free.
I Feel Pretty Poster

Now I have time go to advance screenings. I've had passes to so many screenings in the past, that I couldn't make because of work, but now I free to enjoy myself.

Speaking of advance screenings, I have two I plan on going to this week - Rampage and I Feel Pretty. Which is perfect, because those are two movies, I don't really want to pay to see per se. Not that I really pay for movies, because you know, MoviePass.

I saw Midnight Sun last night, so let me know if you guys want a review for it. I was not planning on writing on, because that movie is like mad old, and I like to give you guys reviews of pretty recent movies. But if you want, you can have it.

Also, thanks to everyone you participated in my giveaway. I announced the winners on twitter on Saturday, so go check that out!  And I think that's all folks!

If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let me know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

An Update and A Warning

Hello World,

I know it's been a while, and honestly I only have the same excuse as before... laziness. I know it's bad, but it's one of my defining character traits. But in all honesty, I didn't give a life update last week, because I really didn't have anything to talk about. But now I have over 2 weeks of life, surely I did something, right?

Let's see... I have developed an unhealthy obsession with the show Catfish. I think it replaced my Youtube addiction, which has simmered down, post-Lent. Now that I can watch Youtube again, I don't really watch it that much. I guess since I spent 40 days without it, I don't really need it anymore.

Hmm... what else? Shake Thursday is now a thing in my life. If you didn't know already, you can get $5 shakes at Marble Slab on Thursdays if you're a Slab Happy member. So everyone should Shake Thursday!

The only other consistent event in my life has been going to the movies, and I mean a lot. Like at least twice a week. I have seen so many movies since my last review. And thanks to MoviePass, it only cost me $10/month. I love MoviePass so much, I got a second card. With movie pass, you can see one movie a day, everyday for one low monthly price. If you're a movie fanatic like me, then MoviePass is a must have! Click here to sign up!

With that being said, I have so many movies that I could review. I've recently seen Pacific Rim Uprisging, Tomb Raider, Ready Player One, and A Quiet Place, just to name a few. I've also re-watched Love, Simon, Peter Rabbit and Jumanji. So since, I've been M.I.A. for a while, I have some catching up to do, so be prepared for some spamming! This is your warning! I plan on spewing out a lot of reviews today. Well maybe not that many - at least 3! Maybe more, but definitely 3! I haven't decided which films to review just yet, but I promise to have 3 new film reviews postedby 11:59 PM today!

Speaking of 11:59PM today, that is also the deadline to enter my giveaway. If you don't follow me on Twitter (smh), then you haven't heard about it, but I'm giving away 3 cool prizes, and you can enter here!

If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let me know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

Tuesdays with Kerin: Post-Spring Break Blues & Giveaway

Hello World!

*SKIP TO THE BELOW IF ONLY HERE FOR THE GIVEAWAY*

Today was the official start of Spring, but Spring Break is over for me, and I'm having post-Spring Break blues.

Yesterday I had to return school and work, and it was so hard. The day just seemed to never end... It felt like the longest Monday of my life. But alas, that is my reality once again, and I must get back adjusted to my regularly scheduled life.

This weekend I ended my Spring Break with one last hurrah! (which is probably a main contributor to my current depressive state).  I participated in some "light" retail therapy.

My family and I took a short trip to Cypress to visit the outlet mall there. We checked into a suite at the Holiday Inn on Friday, and then we went to a Drive In theater that night, and saw A Wrinkle in Time. I don't think I'm made for Drive Ins. I love movies, but I'm a Luxury Lounger kind of girl. Then Saturday was 'shop til you drop' day.  There were some crazy sales! I'm talking 90% off Coach wallets. I got 4 pair of shoes from Nine West for $75!

Plus a few good meals, that was supposed to be the end of the trip, but I might have returned Sunday for just a few more things.

When we returned to Houston, my sister and I went to see Tomb Raider again. Which was better than when I first saw it at the advance screening, but I think it was just because the theater was better. Then that was the actual end of my Spring Break.

GIVEAWAY:
In other news, in my post last week, I said I would be doing a giveaway soon to celebrate my 500 followers on Instagram! I'm going to be giving away a Blu- Ray copy of Thor: Ragnarok! Check out my Instagram (@kerinskorner) for more details!

Also, I am so close to 500 followers on twitter, so expect another giveaway soon!

Big News: Kerin's Korner Update!!!

Hello World!

Today, I decided to make some changes to Kerin's Korner, specifically when and how I post. You may have noticed in the last 2 weeks I've missed some posts, and posts have been going up later and later. The truth is posting everyday is a lot of work. I thought I could do it, but I now know, I really can't - not if I want to continue to post good content. You may have noticed a decline in the quality of my posts, and that's because I've just been posting because I need to post something. And that's not what I want to do. I want to post good quality content.

With that being said, I am cutting down my posts to 4 days a week, and no longer regularly posting on Wednesdays. I'm not going to cut out my movie reviews, because that's a main focus of Kerin's Korner, but I'm going to move them to Fridays, because most movies come out on Thursdays, and I usually watch them that night, so I could give you a review of new movies sooner, instead of a week later.  So the new schedule will be as follows:

  • Makeup Mondays - Makeup tutorials, reviews, etc.
  • Tuesdays with Kerin - Life Updates
  • Top Ten Thursdays - top ten lists of anything
  • Watch or Nah? Fridays - Movie reviews
  • (Maybe the occasional Hump Day Bonus post!)
Besides, the slight change in schedule, I will also be changing the focus of Kerin's Korner. Right now, the blog is all about makeup, movies, and more! I am going to focus less on the "and more", and more on makeup and movies. Hence, why #TBT Playlists have been cut! Makeup and movies are the two things I am most passionate about, and what I enjoy blogging about, so that's what Kerin's Korner should be about.

Okay, that's all the big news! All these changes will go in effect today, so I apologize that my movie review won't be up until Friday! And the winner from all the votes on twitter, instagram, and the comments is... Love, Simon! So I'll have that review up on Friday. And maybe I'll post a bonus review, since you guys were expecting my review sooner.

If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

Au Revoir,
~Kerin

Tuesdays With Kerin: Downtown, Movies, and Giveaway Alert!

Hello World!

#downtownliving
This weekend (really starting Thursday), I took a break from my regularly scheduled life, and lived in Downtown Houston! It was great! My sister and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, and Thursday afternoon, we saw a special D23 screening of A Wrinkle in Time at the Hobby Center! I was very excited, because A Wrinkle in Time was my favorite book as a child! We then had lunch at this cool joint, Osoo + Kristalla. If you're in Houston, you should check them out. Later we checked out the AMC theater downtown, formerly Sundance Cinemas. Friday was more exploring. We attempted to find shopping downtown, but were relatively unsuccessful, but we did find a Forever 21, and I was able to buy some new jeans.  Saturday was even more exploring! We caught the metro, and explored Discovery Green, the City Hall, and the Theater District! It was also a very hot day, so we did take a pit stop at Hard Rock Cafe for lunch! Sadly, Sunday was our day to check out, and return to reality. It has been a hard adjustment after such a great weekend, which is why I aim to make #downtownliving a reality in the near future!

#moviesaddict
My movie addiction was finally become a problem. I went to movies last night, there wasn't a single movie showing that I hadn't seen yet. I ended up watching Jumanji again. I already mentioned, I watched A Wrinkle on Time. I also watch Anninhlation on Thursday and Love, Simon on Saturday. I going to review of these movies tomorrow! Check out my polls on Twitter or Instagram or leave a comment below on which movie you want me to review!

#Giveaway
I said last Tuesday that I'd do my next giveaway at 500 followers, and today I reached 500 followers on Instagram. So it's giveaway time! Leave a comment about what I should do! The giveaway will be  live by next week at the latest, and will run on Instagram this time! Thank you to everyone that followed me. I appreciate the support!

Tuesdays with Kerin: Quick Update

Hello World!

So this is going to be really quick post just to update you on what's been going on.

  1. I want apologize for last week. It was a bad week. I missed a lot of posts. It'll probably happen again. I'm sorry but that's the honest truth.
  2. Thank you to everyone who participated in the twitter poll and voted for which movie I should review next. Should I do more polls?
  3. I currently thinking about my next giveaway. What do you guys want? I'll probably do my next giveaway when I reach 500 followers. So be sure to follow me on instagram and twitter!
  4. This weekend was my sister's birthday, and she had a nice little party. Happy Birthday EBB! She turned 25, and I got her 25 gifts for each year she's been alive!
  5. I watched the Oscars, and was thoroughly upset that "This is Me" did not win, but as for the reviews of the films nominated for best picture, that is still happening. It won't be tomorrow, because I still need to watch 2 movies,  which I will try to do this week, so I have the reviews for you guys next Wednesday!
  6. I am going to the movies tonight #MovieTuesday, so I should have a new review for you guys tomorrow!

Well that's all for now! See you tomorrow with my review!

Tuesdays with Kerin: Wednesday with Kerin

Hello World!

Yes, I know today is Wednesday, and Tuesdays with Kerin are supposed to be on Tuesdays. And yes, I know I missed my post yesterday. But are we really surprised? You knew I was bound to miss a post eventually. But alas, the Tuesday post is still happening. Just a day late!

I don't really have anything to update you guys on. I didn't really do anything last week. If I wasn't doing anything, then why did I miss my post? I dunno... I'm lazy.

My DirecTV was installed on Saturday, and so far so good. I did end up seeing Black Panther again, in fact I have seen it 3 times now. I don't anticipated seeing it again in theaters, but you never know.

I did finally see the last Maze Runner, and I really liked it. I haven't written my movie review for this week, so I'll probably post it tomorrow. (Another late post). But let me know in the comments, what movie I should review. I have some options: Fifty Shades Freed, Maze Runner: Death Cure, The Darkest Hour, or Lady Bird. I'm currently participating the Regal Best Picture Film Festival, so I'm watching all the movies that were nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. I was thinking of doing a full dedicated post next week of reviews of all the nominated movies together, but I don't know.

Well that's all for now! See you tomorrow with my review!

If there are any specific posts you'd like to see, let know via comment, twitter, instagram, etc.

Tuesdays with Kerin: Movies, Books and Basketball

Hello World,

How's Lent going so far? I've been struggling this first week. I have YouTube set up as an automatic tab, whenever I open my browser, so everyday I'm tempted to just click that tab, and watch some vids! Sometimes, I do open YouTube, and scroll through the new videos that I can't watch. I'm suffering from serious FOMO!

Without YouTube to occupy my time, I've been reading a lot. I finished Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick this weekend, and Matched by Ally Condie yesterday. Both books were pretty good, and I'd recommend them to anyone who's a fan of YA novels. Hush Hush is a supernatural romance/ mystery, and Matched is dystopian romance. I'm looking for new suggestions of books!

For, Galentine's Day, I did actually end up going to the movies, but I didn't see Death Cure, I watched Fifty Shades Freed, again. And for the second time, I still for the life of me, can't figure out what Christian says at the end of the movie. So if you know, please let me know, because I really don't want to have to watch that movie again.

I did however go to movies again, last week, with the opening of Black Panther being Thursday and all. Usually when anything has that much hype around it, I am unimpressed, but Black Panther deserved it all and more. It really is an excellent film! But enough about it for now. You'll get my full review on Wednesday!

This weekend was, of course, also NBA All-Star Weekend! I must say I wasn't all that excited for it, but I found it to be a very enjoyable weekend. Even the dunk contest was good this year, despite Lavine and AG not being in it again. Even though, there were a lot of no- name players in the Saturday Night events, it was competitive and entertaining. And so was the All-Star Game itself, which hasn't really been competitive in years. My team, of course, lost, which is unfortunate. But what's even more unfortunate is the fact that I didn't even get to watch the end of the game because Hulu timed out. So if anyone is considering cutting the cord, and switching to Hulu Live Tv,  don't bother! You're better off with Sling, if you really want to cut the cord. But not me. I am putting the cord back. Yesterday, I just ordered service from Direct TV.

Well that's all for now! See you tomorrow with my Black Panther review!
