Winter was the Trial, Spring is the Alignment

We’ve been conditioned to believe that January 1st is the only day that counts. We’re taught to wake up in the coldest, darkest month of the year and suddenly have our entire life mapped out. But nature doesn't work that way. Nothing in nature blooms in the winter. Winter is for quiet, for resting, and for figuring out what is still alive under the frost.

I’m realizing that January and February were never the "start." They were the trials. They were the two months I needed to figure out what my actual goals for the year were.

Even if you set goals in January—which I did—the start of spring is the time to reset and retool. It’s the time to look at what you thought you needed in the winter and see if it actually aligns with where you are now.

The Winter Trials

In January, I set goals that I thought I needed. They were aspirational, a bit disconnected, and mostly based on what I felt I should be doing. I was still figuring out the floor beneath me.

In February, I actually started putting in the work. That was when I launched The Radiant 90 challenge. February was the "test kitchen" for my discipline. It was the month of my daily non-negotiables: the 30–60 minutes of movement, the 5-minute hair care ritual, the 10-minute daily room reset, the daily bank check-ins, and the 10-minute digital detox.

February taught me what it actually takes to show up for myself every single day. It was the "doing" phase that showed me where the friction was.

The Spring Alignment

Now, as we hit the end of March and the beginning of spring, I am nearly halfway through my 90-day challenge. The days are longer, and for the first time this year, I can actually see what goals are aligned with where I am and where I want to be.

Spring is about alignment, not just action. I’ve taken the data from my February "trials" and I’m refining my path:

  • The Move: I’ve learned that daily movement isn't sustainable without intentional rest. Pushing myself every day is great, but if I don't honor the recovery, the movement becomes a chore rather than a celebration.

  • The Audit: Financial awareness is nothing without action. I can check my bank account every single morning, but unless I’m actually reflecting and reevaluating where my money is going, no real change will happen. The "Audit" is about the reflection, not just the numbers.
  • The Crown: I’ve finally developed solid daily and weekly habits with my hair. It’s no longer a "task" I’m trying to remember; it’s just part of who I am now.

  • The Oasis: I’ve learned that my mental wellbeing is a direct reflection of my physical space. When my mind is cluttered, my room is a mess—and vice versa. The daily reset isn't just about a clean room; it’s about a clear head.

  • The Soul: I’ve learned that I can only give out so much. My weekly goal to attend at least one social meetup is great, but only if I allow myself the time to recharge afterward

Committing to the Bloom

Knowing all these things now, I am fully committing to finishing the Radiant 90 challenge. But I’m doing it differently. I’m tweaking these habits to better align with the reality of my life now.

I’m starting again, but this time, I’m doing it properly. My goals are no longer just winter dreams; they are spring realities. The goals I have now are sturdier because they’ve survived the winter. They aren't just ideas I scribbled into a notebook on January 1st; they are habits that have been tested. The winter was for learning, but the spring is for living. It’s time to bloom.
