Makeup Monday: Natural Glowy Look

Hello World!

Lately, I've been rocking a version of this look everyday. I wear it to school, to work, to the movies, to bed... Anyway here's how I got this everyday natural glowy glam look. Enjoy!

Step 1: Prime! To really get that natural lit from within look, first use an illuminating primer. I used the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer -  Radiance. If you have oily skin, like me, follow with a mattifying primer in the areas you get oily. I applied the Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue gel  in my T-zone.

Step 2: Foundation! You'll want to use a foundation with a more natural finish, rather than a matte finish, so your face doesn't look flat, so you still have that natural glow. I used the new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in the shade Belem.

Step 3: Concealer! Use a concealer to brighten the undereye area and cover any dark circles, but only go 1-2 shades lighter than your foundation color. Also highlight the bridge of your nose, by applying concealer there.  I used the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in the shade Walnut.  Let your concealer sit for while before blending it out, so you can get maximum coverage!

Step 4: Eyebrows! While waiting you're waiting for your concealer, this is the perfect time to do your eyebrows! I used Benefit Goofproof Brow pencil in the shade Deep -06 to fill in by brows and then set them with Benefit Gimme Brow.

Step 5: Powder! Now you can blend out your concealer, and immediately set it with powder, so it doesn't crease! Apply just enough translucent powder to set your concealer, and then dust it away. No baking, since this is a more natural look. I used MAC x PatrickStarr Patrick's Powder

Step 6: Bronzer! Use a very warm bronzer, preferably one with a shimmer, so you have even more of a glow. Apply the bronzer to the perimeter and contours of your face. I used Beauty Bakerie Coffee & Cocoa Bronzer palette and I applied it under my cheekbones, to my temples, and along my jawline.

Step 7: Highlight!  Use a gold or champagne color highlighter and apply liberally to places you'd like to highlight. I again used the  Beauty Bakerie Coffee & Cocoa Bronzer palette. Using the highlight shade, I applied it down the bridge of my nose, the top of my cheekbones, and creating a "c" shape, I swept the highlight from my cheekbones to my brow-bone. I also highlighted lightly above my eyebrows and using the same "c" shape motion I connected it to my cheekbone highlight.

Step 8: Eyes! Apply your bronzer into your crease, to give your eyes more depth and warmth. Then using your finger apply your highlighter directly in the center of your lid all the way up to your brow-bone.

Step 9: Set! Because we don't want all that hard work to go to waste, now it's time to set it and forget it. First use a mattifying setting spray to lock everything in place, and then follow with a dewy setting spray, so you have a nice glowy look. I used the Boscia White Charcoal Mattifying Setting Spray and the Urban Decay Quick Fix Complexion Prep Priming Spray

Step 10: Eyeliner and mascara! Try to use a brown or other warm colored eyeliner, because black can look a little harsh with this look. Then use a lengthening mascara, not thickening, so it looks more natural. I used the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in the shade Rococa and Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

Step 11: Lips! Finish off the look with a clear gloss. I used the Too Faced Lip Injection Power Plumping lip gloss.
Step 12: Selfie! Share on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, kerinskorner.com, etc.

Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette: What's the Tea?

Hello World! Here's my review of the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette.

When Tarte first launched this palette this summer, I instantly wanted to get my hands on it, but first I couldn't find it anywhere, and then when I finally did it I wasn't sure it was really worth the price. This palette retails for $46, which is on the pricier side, but comparable to other high-end brand palettes. I was so intrigued by the palette because it claimed to be the ultimate face palette with all the shades you could need to shape, contour, and highlight your eyes, nose, face, and even your brows. But I became hesitant when I saw the price because I didn't think I would be able to use any of the face shades, because I had yet to find a high-end brand that has a contour shade that's dark enough. So I was like, I'm not paying $46 for a 9 basic eyeshadows. But then I saw the swatches online, and I was like maybe it'd be dark enough, so I went ahead and bought it. And I am so glad I did! These shades are so pigmented and are actually darker than they appear in the pan.

I am a fan of Tarte's entire Amazonian Clay line, and I feel like this palette was the perfect addition. You can create so many looks with this palette, and it can work for a variety of different skin tones! This palette reminds me a lot of the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette except better (no shade 😏). Also I think the packaging is just really cute and sleek, and I love the giant mirror, which makes it perfect for travel! I would highly recommend this palette!

Buy it here and use code NG8C-2GBK-JTB9 for $10 off!

Origins Voxbox Review

Hello World! So a couple of weeks ago, I received my first Voxbox from Influenster filled with Origins goodies, free and complimentary for testing purposes! Here's my review of all the products I got!

High Potency Night-A-Minis Overnight Renewal Cream - 4/5 stars
This cream claims to boost your skin's radiance, and I think it's fairly successful in doing that. When I first applied it, I noticed it was very heavy, which I wasn't sure about because I have oily skin, and heavy creams usually don't work for me. But I guess it's supposed to seep into your skin overnight, so that's why it's so thick. The next day after using it, I noticed my skin did look more radiant and smoother, and I definitely wasn't as shiny as I was when I applied the cream the night before.  They also claim that the relaxing aroma will help you sleep, but I think it smells like pine trees, which isn't very relaxing to me, but to each's own. This product retails for $43, which I think is kinda of ridiculous for what it does. It's a good product, but it's not really anything special. There are cheaper products that perform just as well. So if you got that JD lifestyle, and money ain't a thang, then I would definitely recommend this product. But if you're like me, then I think a cheaper alternative is the Olay Age Defying Classic Night Cream, which retails for $11.

GinZing Moisturizer Lightweight Oil-Free Moisturizer - 3/5 stars

When I first opened this product, the first thing I noticed was the strong citrus scent! So if you don't like that scent, then beware because it is very potent. This product claims to instantly hydrate and rev up radiance. It also claims that it is oil-free, but to me it felt a little greasy. It is definitely hydrating, and it feels great when I apply to my skin, but it leaves me looking so shiny and oily, I have to use another product with it or only use it at night. I think it works better as a night cream, because it gives  your skin time to soak up all the product. But if you have dry skin, then it'll probably work fine as a daytime moisturizer. This product retails for $28, which it is more reasonable than the night cream, but a cheaper alternative is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Combination skin, which retails for $11.

GinZing Eye Cream Refreshing Eye Cream - 5/5 stars

This is easily my favorite product I received in my box! It claims to brighten, depuff, and instantly reduce dark circles. That was INSTANTLY reduce circles!  When I first read that, I was like yeah right - instantly?! But it works! When I first applied it, I noticed it had that same citrus scent of the moisturizer, but it was thicker and creamier. And when I applied it and massaged it into my skin, my eyes did look instantly brighter! I was shook! This product retails for $30, and I couldn't find a cheaper dupe for it, but I think it's worth it, and  I'll probably buy the full-size product.

Clear Improvement Purifying Charcoal Mask - 2/5 stars

So I had used this product before I received it in from Influenster, and I wasn't impressed, but I was determined to give it another chance. But it let me down again. This product claims to clear pores and dissolve impurities, but it doesn't. After using this product my skin does look refreshed and smoother, but I can still literally see my blackheads. After continued use, my skin does appear a little clearer, but it's not a 'clear improvement'. I would be more lenient if this product was called like 'decent enough', because it'll give you a decent enough improvement. This mask retails for $17, which isn't bad, expect for the fact that it doesn't work. But there are some people who swear by this product. I would recommend the Yes to Tomatoes Detoxfying Charcoal Mud Mask!

Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash - 4/5 stars

The only claim this product has is to gently cleanse all skin types, and I think it's effective it doing that. It supposedly balances combination skin-types, and leaves skin feeling comfortably clean. It has a nice minty smell, and it does leave my face feeling clean. But for me personally, I need a face wash to do more than just wash my face. I need to it be serving so other purpose like clearing acne, mattifying, etc. But that's just me! If you're just looking for a simple face wash, then this product is for you. This product retails for $12.

(3)Lastly I applied to 'illuminate' shade to the apples of my cheeks, along the bridge of my nose, my forehead, and to my chin.

Sunday Riley Tidal Review

Hello World! Here's my review of the Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water!

So, I've been using this moisturizer for a couple of weeks now, and I really like it. It claims to hydrate and replenish skin and help with uneven skin tones, and it is as good as it claims. When I first applied it,  I found that it was instantly moisturizing and very hydrating on my skin, without being oily. It can even be worn on top of your makeup, if you notice you need a little extra moisture. I like to apply it at night, so it can seep into my skin overnight, and again after I wash my face in the morning. I have also noticed that it has helped to visibly reduce my dark marks, so I will definitely continue using it!

'Quick and Simple Everyday' Makeup

Hello World! So today's look is a super quick and easy look, that you could wear everyday (if you were to wear makeup everyday). This look only took me ten minutes, so it's great if you're crunched for time!

Step 2: Prime! For this look, I used e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer, because it's mattifying and pore-filling all in one step!

Step 3:  Color Correct!  I used the orange corrector from L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer. I applied it to the dark spots on my face and under my eyes, and blended it out with a sponge.

Step 4: Stick Foundation.  I suggest a stick foundation because it's quick to apply and blend out. I used Maybellline Fit Me Shine-Free + Balance Stick Foundation in the shade 355 Coconut.

Step 5: Powder.  I used a translucent powder to set my face, so my makeup would last all day! I used Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in the shade Medium/Deep.

Step 6: Eyebrows!  This step is optional, but personally I just like having fuller brows! I used the Benefit Goof Proof Brow pencil  in the shade deep 05 and the Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! 24-Hour setting gel to set them.
See all active offers at Benefit Cosmetics!
Step 7: Eyes! I applied a skin tone color into my crease, and blended it out! And that's it!  I used my Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette, using the color Truffle, which a medium brown.

Step 8: Blush! To add dimension and color back to my face, I  applied blush in a sweeping motion from the apples of my cheeks to my temples using a fluffy powder brush. I used Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush  in the shade paarty.

Step 9: Highlight!  I applied my highlight right above the apples of my cheeks and along the bridge of my nose, and to the tip of my nose using a fan brush. I used the shade Gleam in the Tarte Tartiest Pro Glow to Go highlight & contour palette.

Step 10: Eyeliner and mascara.  I applied a black pencil eyeliner from Marc Jacobs to upper and lower lash line, and then, I applied Benefit They're Real! mascara to my upper and lower lashes.

Step 11: Set! I set my face using L'oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender setting spray.
Step 12: Selfie! Share on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, kerinskorner.com, etc.

'Fun Game Day' Makeup

Hello World! Happy NBA Playoffs! So yesterday was game day, so I decided to do a fun look to celebrate. And, of course my team  is the Golden State Warriors, so I used blues and yellows. Go Dubnation!

Step 1: As always I washed and moisturized my face. Skin care is the most important step in any makeup routine. Starting with a clean moisturized face will help your makeup stay on longer. I used Sunday Riley Tidal  Brightening Enzyme Water Cream.

Step 2: Prime! For this look, I used e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer.

Step 3:  Color Correct!  I used the orange corrector from L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer. I applied it to the dark spots on my face and under my eyes, and blended it out with a sponge.

Step 4: Foundation.  I used L'oreal Infallible Pro - Matte in the shade Cocoa 112.  I applied it to my face with my fingers and blended it out with a sponge.

Step 5: Powder. This foundation is a little red on me, so I applied a powder to balance out the undertones, and to help keep the foundation from creasing. I used Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in the shade Medium/Deep.

Step 6: Concealer.  I applied concealer under my eyes in a triangle shape from inner corner to top of my cheek bones, along the bridge of my nose, and on my chin. Then I blended it out with a sponge, and "baked" with a translucent powder.  I used  Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer in the shade Biscuit and the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder.

Step 7: Eyebrows!  While my concealer was "baking", I used the Benefit Goof Proof Brow pencil in the shade deep 05 to fill in my brows and the Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! 24-Hour setting gel to set them. See all active offers at Benefit Cosmetics.

Step 8: Eyes! I applied my eye makeup, while my concealer was still "baking".  First I primed my eyes using Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.  Then using my Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette, using a fluffy brush, I applied the color Butter Pecan (a shimmery cream/tan color) in my crease as a transition color. Then using my SHANY Comestics eye shadow palette, I applied a yellowish tan color to my crease. Using the same palette, I then applied a bright yellow to my lids using a flat brush. I then applied a bright aqua to the inner and outer corners of my eyes, and blended it into my crease. I then applied a bright blue to the outer corners of my eyes, and using a tampered brush, I dragged then same color along my lower lash line.

Step 9: Blush! First I dusted off the excess powder from my "baking", then I applied blush in a sweeping motion from the apples of my cheeks to my temples using a fluffy powder brush. I used Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush  in the shade paarty.

Step 10: Highlight!  I applied my highlight right above the apples of my cheeks and along the bridge of my nose, and to the tip of my nose using a fan brush.  I then used a pointed eye brush to apply the highlight below my brow bone. I used the shade Gleam in the Tarte Tartiest Pro Glow to Go highlight & contour palette.

Step 11: Eyeliner and mascara.  I applied a neon blue eyeliner to upper and lower lash line, and then, I applied Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing mascara in the color All About Yves to my upper and lower lashes.

Step 12: Set! I set my face using L'oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender setting spray.

Step 13: Lips! I didn't have a blue lip color, so I mixed the blue eyeshadow I used from the SHANY Comestics eye shadow palette and a nude lip gloss, to create my blue lip gloss. I used a gloss from the Sephora Collection Lip Artist Palette.

Step 13: Selfie! Share on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, kerinskorner.com, etc.

Happy Playoff Season!
